Viva!s letter-writing campaign is focusing on the
following major supermarkets that sell duck meat: Wal-Mart Superstores
(Superstores only) and Trader Joes. However, many other grocery
stores sell duck. The following letter is only a suggestion - please feel
free to adapt it and add your own comments (or phone them and your local
store).

Dear Mr Shields
Upon learning how ducks are factory farmed, I was outraged. I urge you
to withdraw duck meat from your stores immediately.
Ducks have evolved to eat, swim, dive, play and clean themselves in water.
On some factory farms the only water they get is from nipple drinkers.
Farmed ducks are confined in sheds by the thousands where they are forced
to live in filth. Some are unable to stand, while others suffer eye problems.
The farmed ducks life ends violently after seven weeks. Many may
be fully conscious when their throats are cut.
Please do not participate in this cruelty by selling duck meat. I look
forward to your response.
